Kabaka Pyramid -"Kabaka vs Pyramid" (

Snoop Dogg's Rasta guise, Snoop Lion, generated understandable skepticism when he announced his reggae project Reincarnated. He earned outright ridicule after proclaiming that he was Bob Marley incarnate. Just before the album’s release, Bunny Wailer, then the only surviving member of the original Wailers and prominently featured in the Reincarnated documentary, "excommunicated" Snoop from Rastafari, citing "fraudulent use of Rastafari personalities and symbolism."

Speaking with Billboard, Dalton said that aside from engaging fans via social media and targeted radio ads in places like Bermuda (9 percent of this year’s passengers were from the tiny island nation), organizers plan on doing more promotions in key markets, including NYC. “We are also looking to promote at a few reggae and jerk (Jamaican food) festivals because not everybody knows that this cruise exists,” he said of next year’s push. “Welcome to the third annual Jamrock Reggae Cruise, be safe, one love, Rastafari,” announces Damian Marley, eliciting a roar from the crowd. Following Marley’s brief greeting, the Independence of the Seas slowly pulls away from Fort Lauderdale’s Port Everglades, commencing its journey to Jamaica where she will dock in the resort towns Montego Bay and Ocho Rios before returning to Florida.

It was still dangerous and turned into a style that people were used to. It was as if [the show] kind of stayed with Steve [Jones’ memoir] about halfway through, and then departed from it. [John] Lydon, for instance, was never someone I ever saw acting out; he's more like that today. I never saw him do something like jump up in the room and run around going crazy. The only time I saw him ever do that was when they signed the recording deal with Virgin in front of Buckingham Palace. Whereas Sid Vicious was always acting out; he was always doing something in a horrible way or shouting at someone.

The only reason I'm singing about getting out of the cage is because I kicked out of the cage years ago. I joined Generation X when I said to my parents, "I'm leaving university, and I'm joining a punk rock group." And they didn't even know what a punk rock group was. Years ago, I’d write things for myself that put me on this path, so that maybe in 2022 I could sing something like "Cage" and be owning this territory and really having a good time.

After a two-year hiatus, Jamaican music from lovers rock to roots and beyond will be represented at this year’s cruise. The dates will be December 7-12, 2022, sailing on Royal Caribbean’s Freedom of the Seas. Gong” Marley’s record hit ‘Welcome To Jamrock’, the cruise will take things to higher heights in 2022, making impressive progress from its already successful inception in 2014. In lots of ways it’s not so different because we always wrote the songs together, we always talked about what we're going to do together. It was just that we were getting high at the same time. We're just not getting [that way now] but we're doing all the same things.

He also extended his love and gratitude to his fiancée, Whitney Alford, and shouted out his Top Dawg Entertainment labelmates. Lamar specifically praised Top Dawg's CEO, Anthony Tiffith, for finding and developing raw talent that might not otherwise get the chance to pursue their musical dreams. A few hours later I was standing on the balcony of my room in the dense air as smoke billowed from the small fires dotted around the hills of Ocho Rios, solemnly watching our departure from Jamaica. Looking to my left I saw that on every balcony of the ship stood people feeling the same depths. Each of us wrapped in a bittersweet and silent melancholy that only Maxi Priest and Shabba Ranks could lift us from. James Brown changed the sound of popular music when he found the power of the one and unleashed the funk with "Papa's Got a Brand New Bag." Today, funk lives on in many forms, including these exciting bands from across the world. Popcaan was a protégé of now incarcerated dancehall superstar Vybz Kartel who was in a bitter feud with Mavado. Their dispute initially played out on an exchange of diss tracks, then escalated into violence between the respective artists’ camps and their fans, which eventually warranted intervention by Jamaica’s prime minister. Despite Mavado’s words on the first verse "Link up with me, all enemies" and Popcaan proclaiming "unity is the strength" on the third, the two Jamaican artists don’t acknowledge each other (or their battle) within the song’s lyrics or video. The dancehall artists’ icy exchanges thawed somewhat the following year and Mavado was featured on the remix of Popcaan’s "Everything Nice." However that truce was short-lived and the feud, which accelerated again in early 2016, continues today.

Fifty years after hip-hop’s birth, it’s one of the most streamed genres in the world; reggae has yet to attain commercial recognition commensurate with its widespread influence (notwithstanding Bob Marley’s global acclaim). Nonetheless, ongoing hip-hop and reggae conversations on record have yielded some great moments in popular music. Damian Marley is bringing back the vibes with the fifth year of his Welcome To Jamrock Reggae Cruise, named after his iconic GRAMMY-winning album.

He has taken home four GRAMMY wins to date, including for Best Reggae Album for the 2005 classic Welcome to Jamrock and Best Urban/Alternative Performance for the title track, the only Jamaican artist to receive the latter award, at the 48th GRAMMY Awards. The jam-packed lineup includes all five Marley brothers (Damian, Ziggy, Stephen, Ky-mani and Julian Marley), who, as reported by Billboard, will performing together on the cruise for the first time ever. Damian will also perform a solo-set with his full band and Stephen Marley's son Jo Mersa Marley.

Art usually reacts to things, so I would think eventually there will be a massive reaction to the pop music that’s taken over — the middle of the road music, and then this kind of right wing politics. There will be a massive reaction if there's not already one. There's a lot of fan reaction videos online, and I noticed a lot of younger women like "Rebel Yell" because, unlike a lot of other '80s alpha male rock tunes, you're talking about satisfying your lover. I’m really sorry to see what he's been going through just lately.

The Recording Academy got to experience the positive, welcoming vibes of the Jamrock cruise firsthand on its second voyage in 2015, and sat down with several artists that year, including GRAMMY nominee Julian Marley, who talked about what it was like growing up as a Marley. This man has influenced me and here he is now performing on a stage that I’ve helped to build. I feel that with all the artists, really, but Shabba Ranks kinda special to me.” shared Damian “Jr. As the sixth cruise wrapped up in 2019, there were unforgettable performances by Stephen “Ragga” Marley, Taurus Riley, Koffee, Popcaan, Buju Banton, Skip Marley and many more. Given the situation with the global pandemic, the following two years halted the experience. The relationship’s… matured and it's carrying on being fruitful, and I think that's pretty amazing.

He will play a five-show Vegas residency in November, and filmmaker Jonas Akerlund is working on a documentary about Idol’s life. Their music feels at home with other electro-pop bands like fellow Londoners Jungle and Aussie act Parcels. While much of it is upbeat and euphoric, Franc Moody also dips into the more chilled, dreamy realm, such as the vibey, sultry title track from their recently released Into the Ether. Franc Moody's bio fittingly describes their music as "a soul funk and cosmic disco sound." The London outfit was birthed by friends Ned Franc and Jon Moody in the early 2010s, when they were living together and throwing parties in North London's warehouse scene. In 2017, the group grew to six members, including singer and multi-instrumentalist Amber-Simone.

Their 2022 debut single "Forget Me Not" is an ode to ground-breaking New York art collective Guerilla Girls, and "Norma" is their protest anthem in response to the news that Roe vs. Wade could be (and was) overturned. The band name is a nod to funk legend Nile Rodgers, from the "Le freak, c'est chi" exclamation in Chic's legendary tune "Le Freak." Any list of hip-hop/reggae songs would be incomplete without Shinehead, a pioneer in blending the genres. Born in England, raised in Jamaica and living in the Bronx for many years, Shinehead’s impressive roster of reggae-rap mashups throughout the 1980s and 1990s undoubtedly inspired many Jamaican deejays forays into rapping and rappers attempts at reggae. On Aug. 11, 1973, Herc’s sister Cindy held a back-to-school jam in the recreation room of their Bronx apartment building at 1560 Sedgewick Ave.; Cindy charged a modest admission to raise funds to buy new clothes.

7 best suites on big-ship cruises

cruise suite

The light-filled space is adjacent to the outdoor veranda, furnished with lounge chairs and seating for outdoor dining. The Royal Loft Suite receives all of the Star Class perks (Star Class is Royal Caribbean’s highest level of Suite Class). These include freebies such as internet, tips, Deluxe Beverage Package, and specialty dining, and exclusive access to the Coastal Kitchen restaurant and Suite Lounge or Concierge Club. Best of all, the Royal Loft Suite comes with the services of a Royal Genie – your personal butler for the entire cruise. Pick cheaper destinations that are on many itineraries where cruise lines have more cabins to sell.

Spacious Ocean View

If you are not set on selecting something particular and location is not a priority, you should not investigate the cruise ship deck plan so cautiously. The so-called ''guarantee'' cabin grades can turn to be among the best booking options. The "guarantee stateroom" booking allows you to pick up a category, not a cabin. In case the category is sold out you'll be proposed a higher category lodging. The first cabins to be booked are both thecheapest and the most expensive ones, be aware when you choose to test your luck.

INCLUSIVE AMENITIES

World's largest accommodation found on a riverboat is Riverside Mozart's French Balcony Suite. The vessel has two such accommodations, each sized 885 ft2 / 82 m2. Must be noted, that the stateroom is combined with an adjacent French Balcony cabin. Similar Owner's Suites can be found on other Viking ocean ships, too, all used from time to time by Hagen and his family.

Reasons Why CruisePlum has the Best Cruise Search for Suites

The owner's suite on Viking Star — Viking's first oceangoing ship — was specifically designed to be used by Viking founder and owner Torstein Hagen when he travels on the ship, and it's full of little quirks that reflect his personal tastes. Upstairs, the main bedroom is open-walled, so you can see across the living area to the sea. It's like crossing a drawbridge into your own private castle at sea. The Regent Suite also has a ridiculously large master bathroom, complete with its own sauna and steam room. It's big enough that it can double as a personal spa treatment room.

No matter which suite you choose, original artwork and an art deco design will ensure you don’t feel like you’re living in a theme park. You can put your feet up in a large living space with comfortable seating, dining table, pantry, and wet bar. Two or four flat-screen TVs (depending on whether your suite comes with a media room) will keep you up to date on all the latest Disney flicks. Suite guests also have full run of the ship, with complimentary access to the spa’s thermal suite, Havana Pool, and exclusive Excel Suites-only sun deck, Loft 19. They get priority reservations of Loft 19’s private cabanas, as well as guaranteed reservations at most onboard restaurants. The suite comes with complimentary room service, on-demand movies, laundry, and the Bottomless Bubbles soft drink package.

Butlers can also serve the Queens Grill menu en suite at an eight-place dining table. Fresh flowers, nightly pre-dinner canapés, complimentary bar setup, daily fresh fruit, and a welcome bottle of Champagne round out the amenities in store for guests choosing to cross the Atlantic in high style. The expansive private outdoor space comes with a roofed hot tub, dining table, and lounge seating. Combining indoor and outdoor spaces, the Three-Bedroom Garden Villa offers a whopping 6,700 square feet of living space. Some cruise lines will offer passengers in any suite access to a restaurant, lounge, sun deck or pool reserved only for suite guests.

Luxury Leisure

These cabins are of course close to the SPA and you can move between in your bathrobe only. My favorite of all the Royal Loft Suites is the one on Quantum of the Seas, the first vessel in Royal Caribbean's Quantum Class series. Sleeping up to six, it offers a stylish, two-deck-high living and dining space facing the complex's giant window wall, complete with such modernist touches as an Eames chair (which, being a minimalist, I adore). Among its highlights are a dry bar and a sofa that converts into a double bed. Located at the front of Seven Seas Splendor, the Regent Suite is so big it stretches all the way from one side of the ship to the other, offering views in three directions.

With two bedrooms, one with a king-size bed and walk in-closet and one with two lower convertible beds, there is plenty of space for the whole family. They also feature two bathrooms, two TVs, a living room with a pullman bed and a large private balcony. Inside cruise ship cabins' best feature is their price - you book them with the line's cheapest rates available. Still, on some of the newest cruise ships of Royal Caribbean and Disney, there are categories Interior staterooms with a "virtual window", which is a large LED screen displaying outside cam views. Here you will find brief descriptions by category of all stateroom types that can be found on cruise ship deck plans.

At 2,249 square feet, these gigantic bi-level cruise ship suites with Biedermeier furnishings and elegant art deco touches come with expansive views from the suite or adjoining private deck and a butler coordinating a host of amenities. Guests will dine in the exclusive single-seating Queens Grill Restaurant, where their table is dedicated to them throughout the voyage whenever they wish to dine.

It has two massive bedroom complexes — and they really are complexes, with seemingly endless space. It also has a living room, a separate dining area and perhaps the most spectacular balcony at sea. You can call your concierge on the phone, but many ships also have concierge lounges where their suite passengers can meet with dedicated staff, as well as relax and hang out. Often these rooms have free snacks and food around the clock, comfortable seating and televisions; some even have happy hours and private bars.

Most balcony cruise ship cabins feature floor-ceiling sliding glass doors leading to a private step-out veranda. The balcony also is furnished with a table and pair of chairs/loungers. Cruise Tips for Alaska Weather: Month by Month NCL Travel Blog

alaska cruise in april

The Alaska cruise temperature is warmer in June, with lows of 45 and highs in the low 60 degrees Fahrenheit. Make sure to pack insect repellant when you visit Alaska in June, as mosquitos and other insects can become a nuisance. We’ve put together this Alaska cruise weather guide to help you find the best time to cruise to Alaska. You’re not alone if you’re worried about how cold it gets in Alaska or which month is best to avoid the rain.

Alaska Cruise Weather in June

Because of its latitude, Alaska experiences extremes in daylight in the summer and darkness in the winter. The average rainfall in Juneau during the month of April is 2.77 inches. Although the rain isn’t convenient, it is the reason for the lush vegetation you enjoy. Holland America Princess, and Royal Caribbean have Alaskan Inside Passage cruises departing from Vancouver at the end of April. Carnival has 14-day Alaskan cruises departing from Seattle and Long Beach in late April. Weather, ocean conditions, and limited sunlight make winter cruising to Alaska impossible.

Benefits of Alaska Travel in July:

Just expect cooler weather, fewer wildlife viewing opportunities, and less active ports with some shops that are still shuttered. On Winter Solstice (December 21 or 22), the state breaks out of its winter hibernation and begins gaining a few minutes of sunlight each day. By the time Summer Solstice occurs (June 20,21, or 22), travelers to Juneau, Alaska, a common port, will experience a day with 19 hours of sunlight. Locals typically call the months of April and May “break-up” because the snow and ice begin to break apart and melt after the long winter.

Alaska Cruise Weather by Month

And with salmon runs in full force, you can catch fishing bears in the southeast. You will find local asparagus on some menus in southeast towns later in the month, and fiddlehead season also begins in Alaska in May. However, most of Alaska's tastiest fruits and vegetables aren't on offer until later in the summer. Seabourn strives to offer a more tasteful Alaskan cruise and not only because it’s an ultra-luxury cruise line. 2021 and 2022, the tour vendors had a rough time getting seasonal workers to come to Alaska.

The Best Time to Cruise Alaska: A Month-by-Month Guide

The beauty of the land and its immense history; the thrill of seeing bears, moose and bald eagles; and the mysteries of the surrounding marine life will astound you. It's a trip worth taking the time to plan and doing right — because who knows if or when you'll make it back to the Last Frontier. If you're interested in Alaska's Gold Rush history, Skagway — 90 miles northwest of Juneau — is a port you shouldn't miss. In fact, it's the gateway to the Klondike and Dawson's mining district in Canada's Yukon territory, where prospectors searched for gold in the late 1890s. The historic district still has a Wild West feel, though that's been a bit commercialized for the modern era.

If you are in port, you’ll get to see how Alaskans take advantage of the Midnight Sun with locals out biking, hiking, and fishing at all hours of the night. Summer workers (typically college students) begin to arrive for the peak tourist season, and shops and restaurants open for the summer. There is also potential for viewing orcas, gray whales, and walruses.

Real Alaska from local Alaskans

Remove the hassle from air travel and give yourself the gift of flexibility, time and a thicker wallet with Princess EZair flights. We negotiate lower rates with the airlines, allow you to modify your flight up to 45 days prior with no penalty and protect you if your flight is late or canceled. With no roads connecting it to the rest of Alaska or North America, it is truly a protected destination. Founded as a gold mining town and now the state’s capital, Juneau has one foot in history and one in the future.

Luxury Alaska Cruising

This port can get crowded in summer when several ships can call on the same day. Hop a bus, kayak, boat or plane to look for bears, eagles, whales, sea otters and other wildlife. Note that moose don't regularly show up in the Inside Passage; you'll need to head farther north to find them. Alaska cruises offer a wide range of activities in port, with options for active travelers, wildlife lovers, history buffs and shoppers.

As the month advances, the temperatures drop lower and lower, and the nights and early mornings can be bitterly cold. Like July, nights and early mornings can be very cold, so late nighters and early risers should be prepared to bundle up for icy temperatures. Plenty of layers are also essential in August, and travelers should be sure to pack waterproof jackets, shoes, and bags as August and September are among the rainiest months of the year. Welcome to High Seas Cruising, your resource for exploring the exciting world of cruise ship travel.

Embark on a whale watching tour, or sail past Mendenhall Glacier on an Alaska cruise. When you cruise to Alaska with Princess, sail through one of the most iconic locations in the Great Land — Glacier Bay National Park. Listen to Margerie Glacier’s signature crack and boom rumble across the waves.

I never leave home on a trip without my Bobble filtration bottle. The 18.5-ounce size is perfect for travel and it will fit nicely in the pocket of a backpack or your purse. If you are traveling to Alaska in particular to see this phenomenon, this is not the best time to see the northern lights Alaska. During my many visits, I’ve found that by the time April rolls around, roads are usually in a fair condition.

The 60s can feel downright tropical after winter temperatures in the 20s and 30s. A hat, gloves, and a winter coat would be a good idea to pack for an Alaskan cruise, especially if you depart in April, May, or September. The high temperature in May in the capital city of Juneau, averages in the mid-50s, with lows in the 40s.

Choosing the best time of year for an Alaskan cruise can be challenging. From month to month, the weather, wildlife, and your chances of viewing the mesmerizing Northern Lights vary greatly. Cruisers can typically enjoy Alaska in October at lower rates than the Alaska summer cruise season prices.

Find Norwegian Gem Cruises to the Panama Canal & Central America with Prices

gem norwegian cruise reviews

We ate at Moderno, which everyone loved. Definitely save room for the grilled pineapple! La Cucina surprised me with how good it was - I got an alfredo with mushrooms and it was probably one of my favorite meals on the ship. And my husband and I both enjoyed stopping by the Sushi Bar for a roll or two before dinner some nights. And then there is “The Haven,” a private area of sophisticated luxury suites and villas atop the ship that can only be accessed by a special key-card protected entrance.

Learn From our Guests

The Gem is considered a mid-size ship (about two-thirds the size of the newest NCL ships, the Prima and Viva). We have cruised on other lines before, and this was our first experience on NCL. First of all, I loved the Gem - the ship is perfectly sized for me. It was easy to get around, and there were lots of areas to sit and hang out with a book and a drink.

Other Norwegian Cruise Line cabins

I also loved the deck 6 bar area where the martini and wine bars and Maltings are situated. There was really nice seating all around and my husband and I enjoyed MANY delicious martinis while gazing out the windows and people-watching. It was way too crowded around the pools...just not enough sun beds or space.

STATEROOMS

My 13 year old slept in the second bedroom and it was very cozy. Announcements only in Spanish...now there's an idea! Selection of food at buffet was generally good. Floor-to-ceiling glass doors open to your very own private balcony. Stylish and sophisticated appointments enhance these modern rooms.

Night Panama Canal - MiamiDetails

There was a divider built into the room between the very comfy bed and the couch, which pulls out into a bed; we didn’t notice the divider on our previous Gem cruise. There was a minifridge that included a container of water; you need a specific drink package to get containers (cardboard bottles) of water without paying extra. On the way back from Bermuda, when the seas were rough, our cabin was less rock-and-roll-y than I heard other cabins forward, aft, and/or higher were. The food by far exceeded my expectations - even the buffet! I am not a buffet fan, and yet we found ourselves there pretty often and I enjoyed pretty much everything I tried.

La Cucina, on Deck 12, a traditional Italian restaurant offering pasta, pizza, and other Italian staples for a prix fixe price of $59.99 per person.

Norwegian Gem Cruise

Upon request the first night, our room steward brought us bath robes, a mattress topper, and an extra roll of toilet paper. My wife asked for a coffee machine, but it never arrived. We saw our room steward twice the entire cruise, which was much, much less than our previous cruises and less than we preferred. He did a good job making up the room around our schedule, though, and we left a tip each day.

Also you should have done your homework prior to the cruise. From casual buffets to exquisite specialty restaurants, learn everything there is to know about dining on board. All Suites and Balcony cabins feature floor-ceiling sliding doors opening to a private veranda with lounge furniture (1 round table with 2 chairs or sun loungers). You can see all the furniture details on the NCL Gem cabin floor plans in the table above. The Norwegian Gem cruise ship cabins page is conveniently interlinked with its deck plans showing deck layouts combined with a legend and review of all onboard venues. We have 8 year old triplets....we have to go in school holidays.

Pool musicians were very good quality...played some lovely music...also a spanish singer with a guitar...loved him. Serving a wide variety of culinary delights to please every palate, our complimentary dining options include two main dining rooms, a help-yourself buffet and a variety of casual cafés, grills and on-the-go choices. Plus, our Main Dining Rooms offer a menu that changes daily, Chef's Signature Dishes and carefully selected wine recommendations, guaranteeing a different culinary adventure with every visit. Adult and kids’ pools plus hot tubs are located on deck 12 and, quite naturally, are popular destinations for most guests.

The shower was also a good-sized tub, but I can see that less mobile people would struggle to lift a leg over it to step into the shower. There is body wash and shampoo in containers on the wall of the shower and the toilet is in a small room off the bathroom. The cruise left out of the Manhattan Cruise Port. We took the train in from Connecticut, and we overnighted in Ink 48, which is an excellent hotel just a block from NCL’s pier 88 in Hell’s Kitchen. This is a seemingly safe neighborhood that has little to do in walking distance, though the Landmark Tavern is a place for good food and drink.

Liquor packages run $109/day, though you must buy a full package rather than individual days. Soda packages run $9.95 a day and Starbucks packages $12.95 a day (the coffee bar is located in the Atrium on Deck 7). A premium beverage package including all beverages is $138 per person/per day. All beverages can also be purchased a la carte. Bottles of water can be purchased on board as well, but there are also free “hydration stations” situated throughout the ship.

With so much to do, we’ll always have you coming back for more. Many passengers come prepared for the ship's theme nights, one of which is the popular Glow Party, an amped-up version of the ship's former White Hot Party, where passengers are encouraged to wear white or neon clothing. The best part of this room is the perks that come with a suite (butler, concierge, priority embarkation and debarkation, special dining options, etc.) without having to pay for the Haven. We used all the extra amenities and would say it was 100% worth it - having the suite really made our vacation.

If you are an active person, you’ll definitely want to spend time on deck 13, where you’ll find a walking/jogging track; a golf cage; a tennis/volleyball/basketball court; shuffleboard; a climbing wall; and larger-than-life chess and checkers’ games. Just around the corner from the spa is the Pulse Fitness Center, a full-scale gym for adults only that allows you to exercise while taking in the view. Exercise classes (yoga, Pilates, stretching, cycling) and personal training sessions are available for an added charge. O’Sheehan’s Neighborhood Bar & Grill, which serves 24 hours a day and is located on Deck 8, is set above the Atrium on the ship and serves traditional pub grub like burgers and fries. We stayed in the 2BR Family Suite and it was absolutely perfect for a family of 4. My 10 year old slept on the pull-out couch in the living room, and even being 6 inches away from the balcony, with the curtains closed the room was very dark.

The cuisine focuses on classic American meat, fish, poultry, and pasta dishes. We took a minibus to Horseshoe Bay and had a great day. We would have loved to have seen more of the port and done some shopping, but everything is SO FAR from the ship, we didn't end up having the time/energy after our day. In 2020, NCL recategorized fleetwide the Mini-Suite cabin category, renaming it to "Club Balcony Suite" and adding free perks. The change didn't affect the staterooms' deck locations or cabin numbers.

Cruising While Pregnant: What to Know Before You Book

can you go on a cruise while pregnant

"If you are pregnant or sailing with a guest who is pregnant they must provide a physician’s letter stating the expected due date, medical fitness to travel and the pregnancy is not high risk," reads Holland America's website. All of the mainstream cruise lines, including Royal Caribbean, Carnival, and Disney, have the same policy that states guests are only allowed to sail through their 23rd week of pregnancy. This means that if the cruise is scheduled to set sail after you have entered your 24th week, or you will enter your 24th week at any point during the cruise, you will be denied boarding.

Are there Any Dietary Restrictions to Keep in Mind while cruising pregnant?

Certainly, all dietary restrictions that apply on land during pregnancy also apply at sea. When cruising while pregnant, it’s important to consider dietary restrictions to keep both the mother and baby safe and healthy. Pregnant travelers can generally travel safely with appropriate preparation, and this includes cruise travel. Experts advise avoiding destinations where viruses such as malaria are more frequent.

Cabins mid-ship and on the lower decks can help, but there are no guarantees. Predicting Itineraries or which ports will have choppy waters and high winds is not easy. Generally, the newer, larger ships are better equipped with stabilizers which greatly reduce motion.

With the health and safety of parents and newborns in mind, cruise lines have implemented strict policies to avoid risking both patients’ lives in case of a premature delivery. If you have a history of motion sickness, or you’re already experiencing morning sickness, ask your doctor for a recommendation on medications that are safe to take when pregnant. While a few individuals have not informed the cruise line, it is important to let them know. If the cruise line is aware of any special needs, they can be sure to provide any necessary assistance to make certain that you have a safe and enjoyable cruise vacation.

It’s highly recommended to consider buying travel insurance to cover such circumstances. If malaria is contracted, pregnant women may experience pregnancy complications such as miscarriage, premature birth, and stillbirth. For those thinking a vaccine will put you in the all-clear, this is not always the case. Of course, this is dependent on many factors, such as the type of vaccine.

The good news is that there are several over-the-counter and natural remedies to alleviate seasickness on board, including rest, ginger candies, motion sickness medication, and acupressure bands. As always, we recommend talking to your doctor before taking any medication during your pregnancy. Even if you’re not pregnant, it’s perfectly normal to feel nauseous while on a cruise. Some cruisers can experience seasickness, a form of motion sickness, while on board. This can happen when your eyesight and inner ear senses are out of balance.

So what are your options if you're prego and longing for a little luxury on the high seas? Unfortunately, if you're in, or close to, your third trimester, you're probably not going to have many options, warned Cruise Compete. Most cruise lines do not allow anyone who is past 24 weeks pregnant, in accordance with guidelines from the American College of Emergency Physicians. You will be required to supply written confirmation from your doctor or midwife of your estimated due date. This must be supplied on practice headed paper with a practice stamp. Let’s take a look at things you need to know about going on a cruise while pregnant. You’ll find bars all around the ship, and there are even drink packages where you can essentially have an open bar for one set price. As well, you can opt for “cancel for any reason” travel insurance, which will let you cancel your trip and receive some compensation.

This is especially true if you're close to your 24th week, rocking a baby bump and need to assure crew members that you are permitted to sail. It could also be of use to the onboard doctors and nurses should you have a medical issue during your cruise. The cruise lines are firm on this policy, so don't bother asking for an exception. "Neither a doctor's medical statement nor a waiver of liability will be accepted," reads Disney Cruise Line's pregnancy policy. From plush day beds on the deck to cozy loungers by the pool, there are plenty of options for expecting mothers to unwind and recharge. So, take advantage of these lovely nap spots and send your older kids off for some fun at the kids’ club while you savor precious moments of rest during your cruise vacation.

Finally, don't rely on the ship's pharmacy or gift shop to have your medications in stock (and if they do, note they're likely to be priced at a premium). Instead, make sure you have an ample supply of any pregnancy-approved prescription and nonprescription medications that you'll need with you (like prenatal vitamins, Tums, acetaminophen, etc.) to cover the duration of your trip. Also carry copies of prescriptions, as well as the emergency contact number for your doctor. And, as always, be sure to keep them in your carry-on during the course of your travels, in case you get separated from your checked bags. While most cruises to The Bahamas and Caribbean depart out of Florida, some cruise lines sail out of ports like Baltimore, Maryland; Norfolk, Virginia; Boston, Massachusetts; Galveston, Texas; and New York.

You might also want to consider avoiding cruises that visit areas known for having substandard healthcare facilities, in the event that you need to disembark to seek advanced medical care. As expectant parents, you may have planned a special vacation before your little one arrives, and a cruise might be on top of your list. However, before booking your tickets, you may have concerns about whether it is safe to go on a cruise while pregnant. That’s why it’s important that as soon as you know you won’t meet the cruise line’s requirement to sail that you go through the steps to cancel. Cruise lines have cancellation policies that escalate — meaning that the closer you are to the sail date, the less money you’ll receive as a refund if you cancel. The medical facilities, on board, are not equipped to handle premature births or early infant care.

They may insist upon a waiver of the liability for the cruise lines but it is important for them to be aware of the situation. Yes, but do your research in advance as there are limitations for going on a cruise while pregnant. Look at the descriptions for shore excursions and try to find ones that are relaxing and don’t involve too many strenuous activities. Cancelling your cruise before the final payment is generally easier and might come with fewer penalties. However, it’s important to note that pregnancy, in most cases, doesn’t qualify for a full refund.

Most large cruise ships have basic and limited medical facilities for routine procedures and minor emergencies for both passengers and crew. In summary, most cruise lines have policies in place regarding traveling while pregnant, and it is important to check with the specific cruise line before booking. By being aware of these policies and taking appropriate precautions, pregnant women can enjoy a safe and enjoyable cruise vacation. Cruising while pregnant involves unique considerations such as access to medical facilities at sea and to different ports of call. Travel insurance can provide peace of mind by offering coverage for emergency medical evacuations, should the need arise. As pregnancy can bring unpredictability, having comprehensive travel insurance tailored specifically for cruising can help alleviate concerns about potential risks and unexpected expenses.

Unveiling the Role of Dentists: Throat Cancer Detection Breakthroughs

Throat cancer is a serious condition that can be difficult to detect in its early stages. However, dentists are often able to spot the early signs of throat cancer during routine checkups. This is because they are trained to look for abnormalities in the mouth and throat, and they have the tools to visualize hard-to-see areas.

There are a number of risk factors for throat cancer, including smoking, excessive alcohol consumption, and exposure to certain chemicals. People who have a family history of throat cancer are also at an increased risk. The early signs of throat cancer can include a sore throat, difficulty swallowing, hoarseness, and a lump in the neck. If you experience any of these symptoms, it is important to see your dentist or doctor right away.
